Welkom, bienvenue, wilkommen, benvenuto and welcome to Roller Coaster Traveller. I’m delighted to have you here and I do hope you will enjoy reading about my adventures. I’m Glenn, by the way. I’m 30 years old and I live in a small town near Antwerp in Belgium. Do you only know Belgium because of chocolate, waffles and beer? Well… that’s okay. Belgium just isn’t the most exciting place on Earth. We haven’t got skyscrapers rising 800 meters in the air, there are no exotic animals creeping through dense jungles and you won’t find any Disney castles either. Belgium is just… well… Belgium. A small country right in the middle of Europe where every season feels like autumn. Seems like a valid reason to travel as often as I can, doesn’t it? Don’t get me wrong: I love living in Belgium and I feel very comfortable between those humble people living here. But once in a while, I just have to board a plane to leave this tiny and predictable place. And that is what this website is all about: exploring the world.
Yes, I know. It’s not that original to claim you’re a passionate traveller nowadays. We don’t mind flying to the world’s end for our weekend break and people think you’re weird if you haven’t seen Bangkok or New York City in real life. But I do consider myself a little different (in lots of ways actually, but that’s another story) from most travellers. I’m not necessarily searching for white sandy beaches, enormous swimming pools or exotic islands where the party goes on until the break of dawn. No offence to those who like to sip cocktails in a five star resort at the Turkish coastline for two weeks. But that just isn’t my personal definition of travel. I need more action, more beauty, more variety and a touch of magic. So please, no all-in resorts for me. I’d like to retain those cocktails though…
During these travels I try to see some of the greatest theme parks on this planet. I had the honour to visit more than 130 parks on 5 different continents. This list includes the wonderful Europa-Park in Germany, the surprising Lotte World in South-Korea, lots of unique Scandinavian amusement parks and every single Disney theme park in the world. One of Disney’s most mind-blowing creations is DisneySea in Tokyo. This theme park is inspired by the seven seas and the setting is truly amazing. Erupting volcanoes, huge steam ships and a piece of Venice which looks more authentic than the one in Italy… nothing seems impossible in this Japanese world of perfection. DisneySea is without a doubt my favourite theme park on Earth and it offers some of the best rides I ever experienced.
Writing about my travels is an essential part of the experience and that’s how the idea about this website developed. I’m proud about Roller Coaster Traveller and I do hope you’ll like it as much as I do. I appreciate comments, so please don’t hesitate to share your thoughts in the form underneath each article.
This is me. This is my story, my passion and my website. And now, let me take you to some of the world’s most beautiful places. Let’s go!
